One inquiry for two manufacturing stages

This service combines investment casting with subsequent CNC machining for applicable parts. Share the finished-part drawing so both stages can be reviewed together.

Separate cast features from machined features

Identify the surfaces, bores, threads and mounting interfaces that require machining. Machining allowance, datum strategy and access must be assessed before the manufacturing scope is agreed.

  • Cast body geometry and material specification
  • Machined interfaces and critical dimensions
  • Drawing datums and acceptance criteria

Material continuity and project records

304, 316 and 316L stainless steel can be discussed. The formal casting designation and applicable material documentation are agreed for the project; a label alone does not establish equivalence to a wrought standard.

Check the finished requirements

Inspection is defined against the agreed drawing. Calipers and thread plug gauges are used for applicable checks; a factory quality inspection report can be provided. Additional inspection requirements need review.

Choose the route that fits the drawing

Some components suit direct CNC machining from stock; others require cast geometry followed by machining. Share the geometry and quantity to discuss the route rather than assume one process is always cheaper or faster.

Questions before requesting a quote

What tolerances, quantities and lead times can you offer?

These are evaluated for each drawing and project. Include your critical dimensions, required quantity and target date so we can discuss feasibility and quotation terms.

What inspection information can I request?

Calipers are used for applicable dimensional checks, and thread plug gauges for applicable internal threads. A factory quality inspection report can be provided. Specify the dimensions and report requirements for review before ordering.

Are all manufacturing operations performed in your factory?

Lastwell has its own factory for the confirmed casting and CNC services. The project scope and any additional manufacturing requirements should be agreed during quotation; we do not make a blanket claim that every process is performed in-house.

Have a part in mind?

Share your drawing and requirements. Let’s discuss the manufacturing route.
